Dr. Brodrick was raised in Dallas, Texas following the deep family tradition of healing arts. His father and grandfather were both ophthalmologists.
Dr. Brodrick received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in 1988. He attended the University of Texas Medical School at Houston from 1995-1999 being awarded “most outstanding medical student in ophthalmology” in 1999. He completed his internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston Texas with advanced micro-surgical course work.
Dr. Brodrick completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Through intense clinical training and countless surgical procedures, his skills developed so that he is currently at at the top of his field. Following residency, he completed a two year sub-specialty of medical and surgical fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at Texas Retina Associates in Dallas Texas. He studied under the guidance of eleven highly respected experts in the field of vitreoretinal disease, and some of the most renown retina surgeons in the world.
Dr. Brodrick has used modern day small gauge sutureless vitrectomy techniques since their inception in 2003. He taught these techniques to other retina specialists when he moved to San Antonio in 2005. He joined W. Darrel Willerson, Jr., M.D in 2005 in San Antonio Texas in private practice, and has established numerous satellite offices in surrounding communities to bring quality retina care to those unable to travel to San Antonio. He now leads “Retina Specialists of San Antonio”. In 2007 he was awarded the West Side Chamber of Commerce Doctoral Achievement Award for outstanding community service, and was recognized by Mayor Phil Hardberger. He received honorable recognition by the Commissioners Court of Bexar County and an award from Nelson Wolff. He was selected for a Certificate of Excellence by the State of Texas by State Senator Leticia Van De Putte. He appeared in “Scene in S.A.” as one of San Antonio’s top doctors since 2007.
Since 2008 Dr. Brodrick was rated as one of the top retina specialist in “America’s Top Ophthalmologist”. He was the principal investigator in clinical trials for the development of new drugs during a national study to control macular degeneration disease. Dr. Brodrick’s medical practice specializes on diseases and surgery of the retina, diabetes, macular degeneration, retinal detachments, macular hole and trauma, and many other conditions.
