Brady: The Heart of Texas!
About Brady, TX
Brady is the closest geographic city to the center of Texas, and this lively city is truly a center of action! Brady is known for its hunting grounds and the beautiful scenery around Brady Lake. Much of the modern economy is still based on this city’s original roots in ranching and cattle raising.
You can glimpse the history of Brady and American life at the Heart of Texas Historical Museum, housed within the old county jail in Downtown Brady or visit the Heart of Texas Country Music Museum for some down home entertainment.
Things to Do in Brady
Brady Lake offers 25 miles of shoreline to the city, with many fun water attractions. Boating, swimming and skiing are all popular activities, along with fishing for catfish and largemouth bass. Too tired to head home at the end of the day? Hook up your RV or pitch a tent on the lake’s 170 acre park grounds. It’s impossible to spend too much time in Brady without enjoying a mouthwatering BBQ! For the ultimate Texas BBQ, we recommend spending Labor Day at the World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-Off, hosted here – with live music and dancing.
During the rest of the year, head into downtown Brady and pull up a seat at Mac’s BBQ or The Spread, both located on the main drag of Bridge Street. You also don’t want to miss Brady’s country music festival held every spring!
